How long should it take to charge my battery?
Your battery can take up to 6 hours to fully charge using the AC charger. It will take much longer using the USB cable.

Why won’t my device power on?
Your battery may be drained or is not seated correctly. Remove and reinsert the battery. If unsuccessful, try charging the device using the AC Charger. You will see an Amber LED on the device if it is charging.

My battery drains very quickly. What can I do to preserve power?
There are a few settings that you can change on your device that will preserve battery life. Turn off Bluetooth and WiFi when not in use. Adjust the settings for your Backlight by going to Start > Settings > System Tab > Backlight. Turn off any unnecessary audible notifications (email, SMS, etc.) by going to Start > Settings > Personal Tab > Sounds & Notifications.

How do I setup my data connection?
The data settings will need to be changed based on the wireless carrier. The Network Wizard should automatically update the device with the correct settings when the SIM card is installed.

How can I tell how much free memory I have left on my device, storage card or Micro Drive?
Start > Settings> Systems > Memory

• Main will show Storage and Program memory on the device.
• Storage card will show Micro Drive and Storage Card memory.

What is VueFLO and where can I change the settings?
VueFLO is a part of the browser experience that allows you to scroll through websites without using a stylus or buttons by simply moving the device up and down, left and right.

You can access VueFLO by going to Start > Settings > System > VueFLO. Here you can change the sensitivity and browser configuration. Select the Tutorial for more information.

What can I use the TV out feature for?
You can access the TV out feature by going to Start > Settings > System > TV out. Here you can turn the feature on/off and connect with a Composite & S-Video or VGA-out for a projector or TV.

How do I format the Micro Drive?
Go to Start > Settings > System > Format MicroDrive. You can also choose to format the Micro Drive when performing a Clear Storage.

Where can I save my pictures, music and other applications?
You can save it to the 8GB microdrive, the main memory, or a Mini SD card.

Why does my device show "No Service"?
If you are getting "No Service" try turning the device off and back on, changing locations and contacting your carrier to verify coverage and service status.

Why does my device freeze and run slowly?
The main reason for a device to slow down and freeze is a lack of available memory. To free up memory, shut down applications that you are not actively using by going to Start > Settings > System tab > Memory > Running programs and selecting Stop All. As memory is made available, the device will return to normal function.

How do I turn on/off flight mode?
In Comm Manager on the Today screen or Start > Settings > Connection> Comm Manager> tap "Turn on flight mode". You will see the signal icon become "X". To turn off flight mode, Tap on signal icon and tap "Turn off flight mode".

How do I hard reset my device?
Go to Start > Settings > System Tab > Clear Storage. Enter 1234 and Tap Yes to hard reset the device. NOTE: This will erase all information you have stored on the device and return it to factory settings.

My device cannot connect to my corporate network using a pass through connection on a desktop computer.
Verify that the desktop computer is connected to the corporate network and that the user has entered the appropriate (VPN) credentials for network access.

Why won’t my device recognize my SIM?
Verify with your wireless carrier that your SIM is active. Remove and Reinsert the SIM in your device.

What bands does the Advantage support?
HSDPA/UMTS (2100 MHz for Europe, 850/1900 MHz for USA) Quad-band GSM/GPRS/EDGE: 850, 900, 1800, 1900 MHz (The device will operate on frequencies available from the cellular network).

How do I turn Bluetooth ON/OFF on my device?
Press the Comm Manager on the right side of the device or today screen. Tap the Bluetooth icon to turn on Bluetooth on or off. A red X will be displayed when Bluetooth is turned off.

Can I work with two Bluetooth devices at the same time?
You can have multiple Bluetooth accessories paired with your HTC Advantage at the same time but you cannot have more than one active Bluetooth profile at any given time.

How do I pair my device with a Bluetooth accessory?
Ensure that Bluetooth is enabled on the device. Select Start > Settings > Connections Tab > Bluetooth. To search for a Bluetooth device, select the Devices Tab and tap New Partnership. Make sure that the Bluetooth accessory is turned on. For further pairing instructions, refer to the user manual that comes with the Bluetooth accessory.

How can I send/receive files using Bluetooth?
Ensure that Bluetooth is enabled on the device. Use File Explorer to locate the file to send. Tap and hold a file and then select Beam File from the pop up menu. Find the Bluetooth device to send the file to from the list and select Tap to send. The screen will display the status as "Sending" and then "Done".

How do I adjust the text size on my device?
On the device, go to Star t> Settings > System Tab > Screen. Select the Text Size tab and use the slider bar to adjust the text size. Tap OK to save the change.

Something is wrong with my display; it goes dark after a few minutes of inactivity but my device is still powered on. What is happening?
The device is going into hibernation. The device is still powered on, but the screen has gone to sleep to preserve power. To "wake" the device up, just tap the Power button once.

My display/screen's image is inverted, faded or discolored, what can I do to fix it?
Perform a soft reset by pressing the Stylus into the reset hole located on the back of the device. If the screen issue persists, perform a hard reset.

Why am I unable to synchronize my PocketPC with the computer through the USB cable?
Check that you have ActiveSync installed. If installed, check the physical cable connection to see if it is plugged in properly. For more help with ActiveSync please refer to the Microsoft website: www.microsoft.com/windowsmobile

What version of ActiveSync is used with the HTC Advantage?
You must use the latest version of ActiveSync (4.5 or later) or with Vista use Windows Mobile Device Center (6.1 or later) with Microsoft Windows Mobile 6.0 software. Remember that you must download Active Sync to your desktop PC before you can sync with your device. ActiveSync 4.5 and Windows Mobile Device Center is included on the Companion CD in the HTC Advantage box. You can also download the latest version of ActiveSync from the Microsoft website at www.Microsoft.com/windowsmobile.

How do I access and use MSN Messenger on my device?
Go to Start > Programs > tap on MSN Messenger. Select Tap here to sign in and enter your MSN email address and password and then tap Sign In. Once signed in, just tap on the Buddy that you would like to chat with, type your message in the box that appears and tap send. **Check with your wireless carrier for applicable charges.

How do I change my Today screen?
On the device, go to Start > Settings > Personal Tab > Today. Select a theme from the list or check the “Use this picture as the background” option to select a picture on the device to use as the Today screen background.

How do I access the camera function on my device?
You can access the camera application on your device by pressing the Camera button located on the top right side of the device or by going to Start > Programs > Camera.

How do I change my Camera function to take video?
From within the Camera application, tap on the Wrench icon in the lower left corner of the display to access the options menu. Tap the Camera icon to open the Capture Mode menu and select Video (.MP4) or MMS Video (.3GP) from the list. Tap OK to save the change.

What is the camera size?
3 mega-pixel camera with autofocus and flash light.

How do I update the Windows Media Player library to read media that I have transferred to the device or MiniSD card?
Open Windows Media and select Menu > Library then select Menu > Update Library. This action will scan the device, Micro Drive and any inserted Mini SD card for media files and update the media list.

What type of extensions can Windows Media Player play?
A: Video format supported: *.wmv. *.asf. *mp4. *.avi

What encoding format for video capture is supported?

How many messaging accounts does the HTC Advantage support?
The HTC Advantage supports up to a total of 8 messaging accounts. This includes 1 Exchange account and 5 POP3/IMAP4 accounts plus Text Messaging and Multimedia Messaging.

What types of email does the HTC Advantage support?
The HTC Advantage supports POP3 / IMAP4 email accounts and direct synchronization with Microsoft Exchange Server 2003 SP2 or 2007.

The sent messages do not appear in the Sent folder in my handheld. What do I do?
In Messaging, tap Menu > Switch Accounts > Outlook E-mail. Tap Menu > Tools > Manage Folders. Put a check in the box marked Sent Items and tap OK.
